Finding Beauty in Ourselves and Celebrating it With Others

And just like that, the new year is upon us.

It’s that time of the year again, where the days seem to be going faster and faster, and when we look back on the year that was it feels like it just flew by. We find ourselves asking, “Where did the year go?” And the answer, most of the time, is measured on the transformations we made possible. It’s easy to get caught up in the frenzy of resolutions we want to achieve and reflections on what we’ve accomplished, and feel like we always fall short. It’s pretty ironic that when we try to slow down we can’t help but be filled with racing thoughts — “Did I change enough? Lost enough weight? Saved enough money? Traveled as far? Met new people as much?” The questions go on and on. It’s because a lot of emphasis is placed on New Year as a time to celebrate the transformations we made possible in the past year and make big changes in the coming one. While this is a useful motivator for many, it’s also important to recognize that meaningful transitions and milestones are happening also because of what we were able to keep constant in our lives. For us, it’s care. Care that we have for our families, for our friends, for our clients, and most importantly, for ourselves. That in itself is worth celebrating and taking pride in.

They say the years are long and the days are short, but it’s probably because we measure the years by what has changed and spend the days wanting change. We’re always chasing something. Every day, there’s a deadline to beat, a place to be, a thing to do, that we forget to appreciate what positively persists within us - our strength, wisdom, selflessness, and who stays by our side - our family and friends.

When I remember all I’ve learned along the way as a former caregiver, nurse, and now executive, I find that goals for the future are always changing. But what we care enough to change and who we care enough to help - however, little becomes our legacy. And because you give care to us and our clients so tirelessly, we are grateful for you and your legacy.

As the new year approaches, may you reflect and remember that whether or not you realize it, people are grateful for your love and care. Whether or not you see the beauty, you still add to it. And whether or not you recognize the miracles, you still perform them, every single day. We are so thankful for you, for all of it.

As you aspire and act for your goals in the New Year, professionally and personally, I encourage you to build them from a place where your hopes and vision for your future are informed and enriched by the care that stays constant within you and by your side.

Here’s to the ceaseless care that brought you to where you are today, and the care that will carry you through all that you hope to build and achieve tomorrow. The kind of care that encourages hope, enables love and empowers our spirits.

Cheers to a care-filled, successful, and awesome 2022! (Tip: It’s very much ready for you!) 😉
